It's the most wonderful time of the year, especially for those of us who look forward to the Christmas season all year long. Even if Christmas isn't our favorite holiday, many of us will likely agree that fewer times are as beautiful. There’s perhaps no better way to drink in some of that beauty than a visit to what is regarded by some as the best Christmas lights in Pennsylvania. It's a treasured annual tradition for many.

Longwood Gardens is located at 1001 Longwood Road in Kennett Square, about an hour east of downtown Philadelphia.

Throughout the year, Longwood Gardens provides sheer natural beauty everywhere you look. Visitors come from miles around to tour the expansive indoor and outdoor gardens here.

When wintertime rolls around, however, the gardens transform into a spectacular masterpiece of more than half a million lights.

Generally running from mid-November until the first week of January (check the website or social media pages for exact days and times) it is one of the most popular Christmas light displays in Pennsylvania.

Upon entering the property, you'll probably want to start your journey outdoors as you explore the spectacularly lit grounds.

For as far as the eye can see, there are stunning Christmas trees of all shapes and sizes awash in Christmas lights.

Stroll through a tunnel of lights, marvel at the orbs, and sing along to the holiday music that's synced to the holiday lights displays.

Unfortunately, there aren't any hay rides here (yet!), but you can warm up in front of a roaring bonfire!

You'll discover plenty of spots, too, that provide the perfect holiday backdrop for photos and selfies.

After you've explored the winter wonderland outside, head indoors. Among many popular features here is the miniature garden railroad.

This classic Garden Railway is popular with folks of all ages.

As you watch it chug along the tracks, you can almost envision what it would be like to embark upon a real railway adventure across the Pennsylvania landscape.

As you meander through all of the themed rooms, you'll see the creativity used to deck them all out for the Christmas season.

The Music Room, for example, boasts elaborately-decorated trees against the backdrop of an old-fashioned candy shop. Speaking of music, did happen to pass the musical fountain on the property when you arrived? It is one of the most unique fountains in Pennsylvania.
